BALLET

Ballet Class at PS 170

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM...

Students selected to participate in our First and Second Grade Ballet Program attend pull-out classes during the school day once a week throughout the entire school year. During these sessions they study the basic form and technique of classical ballet as well as the corresponding vocabulary and work hard to develop their skills. These students perform choreography they’ve learned and rehearsed in class at two showcases each school year for a large audience of parents, classmates, and guests. Since the program was established in 2001, ballet students from PS 170 have been invited to perform at the Regional Arts Festival at Lehman College and have been accepted to continue their training at a variety of renowned schools in New York City including Ballet Tech, MorganScott Ballet, Bronx Charter School for the Arts, and School of American Ballet (the children’s school of The New York City Ballet).
